Any school child can direct you to our city's featured attraction: the stone cairn that marks the Geographical Center of North America. (The location was established in January 1931 by a U.S. Geological Survey.) The cairn was completed in August 1932 by W. B. Paterson and E. B. Paterson with assistance from the local Boy Scout and other community volunteers. The local Lions Club donated the construction materials and a landmark was born.

Based on the 2000 census Rugby's population is 2,929 residents. Based on the 2000 census Pierce County has 4,675 residents.
